Johnny Manson coached grade school boys basketball when his sons school needed a coach. His experience in playing at the Boys Club in North Everett, then High School basketball helped his coaching philosophies. “At this age, some coaches take things way too seriously. They think they are Bobby Knight. This is grade school and for many, the first time these kids are even on a team. I want to help these kids fall in love with the game like I did.” He says that running a boot camp and running them into the ground makes them not have fun. “Sure, we have drills, conditioning & consistency while learning the basics and fundamentals, but I try to make it fun and since they lose focus quickly. I try to keep it forward moving at all times.”
He must have been doing something right because he ended up coaching for over 10 years.
