PHOTO: Firefighters in Fall River are being recognized for their extraordinary work at a Saturday house fire, while facing brutal weather conditions.
In a Facebook post, Fall River Mayor Paul Coogan praised the fire crews.
âThey battled some really tough conditions at a house fire on Irving St. With lot of elements working against them, including the parking, wind, cold and size of the fire, they really did a tremendous job.â One image in particular captured the conditions crews faced.
The Fall River Reporter posted the image taken by Bobby Forand of Fall River Fire Department.
You can see an ice-encrusted firefighter – his helmet, turnout gear, and mustache – frozen solid. Mayor Coogan says firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding homes.
One minor injury was reported, according to the mayor.
