A former Louisiana teacher this week pleaded guilty to a lesser obscenity charge after admitting to having sex with an underage student, the Times-Picayune reports.

Authorities say that Shelley Dufresne had sex with a 16-year-old boy between Aug. 22 and Sept. 27 at a home in Montz, though they have not specified if it was at her home, according to the Times-Picayune. Dufresne lives in Montz with her husband and three kids, according to the paper.

She admitted to the crime in court on Thursday, according to the paper. “Is it true?” the judge asked her. “Yes, ma’am,” she said.

Per her guilty plea to the obscenity charge, Dufresne will spend 90 days at an inpatient mental health facility, serve three years active probation and be fined $100, according to the paper. She will surrender her teaching license but will not register as a sex offender.

Should Dufresne complete these terms, the original charge of carnal knowledge with a juvenile, which is still intact, will be dismissed, according to the paper.

Dufresne is also one of two Destrehan High teachers arrested last fall on charges of having sex with this same student. That act allegedly occurred on Sept. 12 (Dufresne’s birthday, according to the Times-Picayune) in Kenner; and the case is still pending in a different parish.

The victim has maintained that the sexual activity was consensual. It first came to light after school officials told police the student was “bragging” about it, authorities have said.

As she left the courthouse, Dufresne posted a smiling photo on Instagram, according to WVUE. The caption: “My mood today,” followed by three smiley faces, according to the station.

Dufresne’s Instagram account is currently set to private but the bio reads: “‘Only God Can Judge Me ‘ Please Do Not Harass Me. Everybody Makes Mistakes. Retired Teacher. Family Oriented.”
