Western media has been denying the fact that Neo-Nazis exist in Ukraine and are a major threat to peace in the region. Perhaps this is because they have long used this tactic as a way to dismiss their political enemies and are assuming Putin is attempting to do the same thing here. But, that would be a false assumption. Below is a great summary by Harley Schlanger summarizing the evidence showing the existence of Neo-Nazi’s in Ukraine and how the Ukrainian government has utilized them for various purposes.
It is important to realize that Putin is correct on many things he has said about Ukraineand that he has legitimate complaints such as Russians being targeted and slaughtered in the Eastern regions of Ukraine, Neo-Nazis spreading hatred for Russians in the region, Ukraine being used as a base for money laundering and human trafficking, and NATO using Ukraine to violate security treaties. That being said, it is important to not be naive about Putin’s ambitions to expand his power base and to restore the Russian Empire.
Putin has specifically stated that he wants to restore the glory of the Russian Empire pre 1917 before the fall of Russia to communism and the following genocide by Lenin, Stalin and their cronies. This view is widely shared by average Russians so he potentially has a wide base of support for his ambitions. He is also very capable of accomplishing what he sets his mind to. Below is a chart showing what he has done for Russia in the first 15 years of his presidency:
Of course coming from a Russian source, much of what is listed could be propaganda. That being said, he has significantly restored a solid footing for Russia even according to the harshest critics. A leader capable of turning a country around also has the skill to do much more.
The best way (and moral way) to combat the strength of a potential enemy is not war, but to rebuild America’s strength with strong competence in every aspect of American society. This must also be done without massive corruption which only corrodes the fabric of society and makes it impossible for a foundation of strength.
Rebuilding strength must start with the basics: strong families, quality education, low cost energy that is independent, independent money supply (removing usury by foreign owners of our central bank), and a strong military used for defense and smart strategic purposes (not to destroy and create a massive army of enemies worldwide), etc… It’s past time that we get back to the basics in America. Unfortunately, this concept is lost on most of our current politicians who lack basic competence, morals and just plain courage.
