The pair had been on the run since April 29 when Vickey helped Casey escape jail in Lauderdale County, Ala. He had been jailed on murder charges.

Vicky was captured on surveillance footage leading Casey into her patrol car. She told staff she was taking him to a mental health evaluation, and later calling in to say she was ill and wouldn’t return to work that day. It was later revealed that the two steps were part of her preplanned escape plot.

Vicky and Casey abandoned her patrol car and then continued fleeing in her 2007 Ford Edge SUV that she’d parked in a parking lot the night before. That SUV was then found abandoned at a tow lot in Tennessee on May 6. Officials believe mechanical problems caused the pair to abruptly change vehicles to the F-150 truck.
