A group of truckers known as The People’s Convoy, who are protesting against COVID-19 mandates and restrictions, parked near the White House on Friday afternoon after being in the Washington, D.C. area for over two weeks.
Reuters foreign policy correspondent Idrees Ali posted video of the demonstration on Twitter.

Daily Caller correspondent Henry Rodgers shared a video of truckers assembled “a block away from the White House.”
He added that one trucker said they drove from California.

According to NPR transportation reporter Jordan Pascale, some of the demonstrators in the trucker convoy were honking near the White House.
“On a bike ride and caught some of the trucker convoy honking near the White House on H Street. They were tailed by Secret Service and other police SUVs,” Pascale tweeted along with a photo of several trucks waving American flags.

The People’s Convoy truckers told ABC7 News that the demonstrators split up in D.C., with some trucks heading to the 14th Street Bridge, as well as other areas downtown and Silver Spring.
On Friday morning, one of the truckers with The People’s Convoy said “everybody needs to get to D.C.” before vowing to “take [Black Lives Matter Street] back.”
“This morning, a trucker with The People’s Convoy on the main stage said: ‘What’s going to happen up here in DC: Black Lives Matter Street, we’re gonna take it back. All that paint’s coming off that street.’ The trucker adds, ‘it’s gonna get tar and feathered,'” Daily Beast reporter Zachary Petrizzo tweeted.

The speaker, who says he’s enlisting motorcycles to take DC by storm, continued: “And then we are gonna tar and feather all our delegates.”

Last week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) addressed The People’s Convoy protesters in Hagerstown, Maryland.
“God bless the truckers. Lemme just say to each of you, thank you for being here. Thank you for speaking out. Thank you for giving your voice. You are standing up. You’re standing up for truckers across the country. You’re standing up for every man, every woman, every child in America. You’re standing up for freedom!” Cruz said.
Cruz also joined Brian Brase, an organizer of the rally, in his truck as it entered Washington, D.C.
“It is amazing as we drove at the convoy, all along the road you saw men and women gathered waving flags, honking, and expressing support,” Cruz said of the experience, according to The Daily Caller.
“The People’s Convoy is not representative of the Right or the Left. It is representative of the people of the United States,” Brase said. “It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you lean on. This is for everyone.”
