Knowing there's a health care crisis in Maine, one man is answering the call to help.
He's the "newest" firefighter and paramedic for the Augusta Fire Department.
âItâs like we never skipped a beat. Thatâs why they call it brotherhood, youâre always family,â Augusta Firefighter and Paramedic Greg Coniff said. After eight years away from the station, Coniff has returned from "retirement."
âThe city of Augusta was having a hard time filling vacancies that they had with qualified candidates,â Coniff said.
So Coniff is back at the place he worked for 19 years, according to the department. Chief David Groder welcomes his experience.
âFor us thatâs a great opportunity,â Groder said. âHeâs trained in our organization, heâs trained in our system. Itâs been a little while since heâs been gone but heâs able to step right back in.â
